Greetings from Athens!
Our final days in Rome were nothing short of unforgettable.
One of the highlights was our visit to Gladiator School, where the instructor brought ancient Roman history to life with energy and enthusiasm that had everyone involved. The students embraced the experience - swords (pool noodles), shields, and all! Being principal, the role of emperor was fitting.
Afterward, we indulged in what many are calling the best carbonara of their lives at a charming local trattoria, followed by some well-earned free time.
The next day was dedicated to wrapping up our time in Rome.
We spent the morning and afternoon in class finalizing assignments before packing for the next leg of our trip. Meanwhile, the photography class enjoyed an excursion to the Capitoline Museums, exploring classical art while connecting it to the principles of photography and composition.
Our final Roman dinner was a celebration with personal charcuterie plates, fresh pizzas, and laughter. More structured free-time followed into the evening for our last night in Rome.
Today, we touched down in Athens! Our transfer to the hotel was smooth, and we were greeted with a stunning buffet that offered a true taste of Greek cuisine. Students were smiling and enjoyed every last bite, often going for seconds. Everyone is now settled comfortably in their rooms, excited for the adventures ahead.
Tomorrow, we’ll again step into history as we visit the iconic Acropolis and its museum, followed by lunch and free time in the charming Plaka district. Then, on Sunday, we’ll set sail for the island of Paros to continue this incredible journey.
Yours in Athens,
Nicholas
